  • Maintained the Columbian’s FacebookTwitter, and Pinterest accounts
  • Developed with the input and advice of newsroom colleagues a set of community guidelines to help improve discussion on Columbian.com
  • Developed a Twitter training program and trained nearly 30 reporters to effectively use the service for crowdsourcing, reporting and engagement

  • Researched each day’s vendors to determine selling points and unique facts

  • Managed a staff of 25 writers, editors and photographers.
  • Used editorial judgment to develop story ideas and execution
  • Wrote and edited news stories, features pieces, columns, captions, and headlines
  • Laid out roughly half of the newspaper on a twice-monthly basis
  • Conceptualized a redesign, tripled ad revenue (from $1,000 to $3,000/year) and doubled the page count (from 8 to 16 pages)
